What it means: This is Port St. Lucie’s third Pop Warner Super Bowl title in the past five years (2009, 2011, 2014).
The last time: The last time the Port St. Lucie Pirates won a Pop Warner Super Bowl was their Division II Jr. Pee Wee team in 2011.
How they won: Port St. Lucie and Loveland went back and forth scoring throughout the game. With a close 8-6 score at halftime, Loveland ahead, both teams came into the second half ready to fight for the win. Port St. Lucie struck first in the second half with a 31 yard touchdown catch by Tanner Hinze. The score was quickly followed by a 38 yard Titan touchdown run by Nicholas Wall. The Pirates sealed the deal with a 9 yard rushing touchdown by Ronald Ivory, Jr.
How they got here: The Pirates went 8-0 in regular season with only 12 points scored against them. They defeated Delray Beach and Riviera Beach in the playoffs to become the Treasure Coast Champions.
Fun fact: #54 Jacob Dutton has a Prosthetic leg and is one of the team’s best players, according to Coach O’Neill. Dutton also made the trip to Disney in 2011 and won with the Pirates.
